The Virginia Tech Summer Academy (VTSA) is a six week program designed to ease your transition from high school to college by coupling required course work with opportunities, to become familiar with university expectations, to make new friends, and to find your way around campus and the Blacksburg community.
After check in, students will begin their academy experience by participating in student success orientation. Then you will attend your first classes at the university. Your first full weekend is filled with Hokie Camp. Upon the return from camp, you will continue with classroom instruction and other academic activities for the remainder of the six weeks.
VTSA combines popular courses, along with peer mentoring and academic networking, to promote a strong foundation to start your academic life at Virginia Tech. The VTSA takes place during Virginia Tech's second summer session (July 5 – August 15) and is only available to first year students (freshmen and transfers).
